The man who pulled the trigger in a drive-by shooting that left a Turlock teenager paralyzed was sentenced to seven years plus 25 years to life in prison Dec. 10, the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office announced Thursday.
A Stanislaus County Superior Court judge ruled there was not enough cause to hold three Turlock women over on attempted murder charges for the fire they set at a vacant cheese plant, but ruled a trial on the arson charges would precede.
The three Turlock women accused of trying to kill a man by burning down the vacant cheese plant he had taken shelter in, will have to wait until Thursday to learn if they will stand trial on the charges lodged against them.
An argument over a debt of $20 is what prosecutors say was the catalyst that led three women to ignite a fire that burned to the ground a vacant Turlock cheese plant, causing an estimated $5 million in damage.
A federal grand jury returned a 15-count indictment on Thursday against seven individuals, charging them with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and bank fraud, mail fraud and aiding and abetting, and making false statements to a bank in a mortgage fraud scheme, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced.
