The Turlock Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs by hosting a free disposal event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Public Safety Center at 244 N. Broadway Avenue. The service is free and anonymous and no questions are asked.
The campus at California State University, Stanislaus was turned into one big crime scene Tuesday afternoon as the university and local law enforcement and emergency personnel engaged in an emergency drill. The simulation of an active shooter on campus involved the California State University police department, the Turlock Police Department, the Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response. Students from the theatre department took on the roles of the victims and the walking wounded.

A federal grand jury returned a 15-count indictment on Thursday against seven individuals, charging them with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and bank fraud, mail fraud and aiding and abetting, and making false statements to a bank in a mortgage fraud scheme, United States Attorney Benjamin B. The 15-year-old girl reported missing by her grandparents in Turlock was found Thursday morning in a Las Vegas hotel room and the Oklahoma police officer she was with has been taken into custody on an arrest warrant for kidnapping.
