The 911 emergency network system was disrupted in Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Merced and Tuolumne counties late Tuesday night when fiber optic cables were cut on McKinley Avenue a half mile north of French Camp Road.

What was deemed a suspicious device found outside the police department at the California State University, Stanislaus prompted a call to the county bomb squad, but turned out to be just an electronics device.
A federal grand jury returned a 15-count indictment on Thursday against seven individuals, charging them with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and bank fraud, mail fraud and aiding and abetting, and making false statements to a bank in a mortgage fraud scheme, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced.
