Armed robber hits wireless store

A masked gunman robbed a Turlock store Wednesday and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the Turlock Police Department.The suspect entered the KB Communications store at 753 N. Golden State Blvd. at 4:47 p.m. He had a cloth over his mouth and brandished a handgun.The robber took the cash and left without anyone being injured.The suspect was described as a man in his mid 20s. The Turlock Police Department is inviting the public down to the station for the 5th Annual Open House and Safety Fair.The fair starts at 10 a.m. and will run through 2 p.m. today at 900 N. New court hours

Starting Monday the Stanislaus County Superior Court clerk's office will be operating under extended hours.The clerk's office will now be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., which is an extension of one hour from the previous operating hours. A Sacramento man has been ordered to pay nearly $7,000 for an anthrax hoax that targeted several businesses, media outlets and Congressman George Radanovich's Modesto office.A federal judge ruled Marc M. Keyser, 68, will have to pay the victims and emergency personnel who responded to his hoax. Toddler allegedly abused at hands of Gustine mother

The Merced County Sheriff's Department is investigating a Gustine mother on abuse charges after it was discovered her 11-month-old daughter had multiple fractures.Maria Galicia, 26, was booked into the Merced County Jail on Monday on charges of child endangerment likely to produce great bodily harm or death, said sheriff spokesman Deputy Tom MacKenzie. She was released on bail, but was arrested again on Tuesday on suspicion of aggravated assault. She is being held at the jail in lieu of a $500,000 bail.

A Turlock man was sentenced to six years in prison for several thefts.Daniel Allen Coats, 28, was convicted of auto theft and residential burglary on July 21, the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office reported.On May 8, 2009, Coats broke into a Cadillac Escalade that was parked at the El Rosal restaurant in Turlock. An electronics store in Turlock was robbed at gunpoint Sunday afternoon and the two suspects remain at large.The robbery was reported around 1 p.m. at the Radio Shack at 2201 Fulkerth Rd.Turlock Police Capt.
