Culinary showdown Turlock: Pitman wins high school Iron Chef competition

For the past several weeks the students in the culinary programs at Turlock and Pitman high schools have thrown themselves into learning everything they could about Indian cuisine. They've watched videos, read cookbooks, and learned all about the spices that flavor the traditional meals.

Local student receives trapshooting scholarship

Since age 11, Hilmar High School student Josh Lopes has had a passion for trapshooting. He spent his days shooting at clay pigeons with his father at his grandparents' ranch, honing his skills and developing a love for the sport. Now, Lopes has been shooting competitively for seven years and is headed to Lindenwood University in the fall on a trapshooting scholarship.
