Pursuing a college degree can be a financially exhausting investment-particularly for former foster youth and student veterans who are oftentimes left without reliable financial resources or dependable support systems to aid them on their academic journey.
City of Turlock Go Green Coordinator Toni Cordell and City employees visited various school sites on Tuesday to promote environmental conservation. Along with teaching the students about environmentally friendly techniques like how to compost, reduce waste, recycle and conserve water, the kids also got to help plant, water and name trees. The trees planted by Wakefield's 2nd grade classes on Tuesday were a Red Maple, October Glory and Cedrus Deodara (California Christmas tree). The city workers plan to visit various other schools throughout the week.

Turlock Unified School District's decision to enlist Turlock Pregnancy Center's Community Education Director Jeanette Fanconi for sex education has recently been met with mixed emotions from parents within the District.
When asked if she has received any kind of negative feedback regarding the potential formation of Denair Elementary Charter Academy next year, Sara Michelena was undoubtedly pleased as she struggled for a response.
Although there was a crisp bite to the early March morning air on Monday, Dennis Earl Elementary students did not appear to notice as they eased right up to the edge of the Tuolumne River at Fox Grove Park to release over 100 salmon they had raised in the classroom since January.
Only a week after Turlock Unified School District Superintendent Sonny Da Marto made an announcement revealing his intention to retire at the end of the school year, the TUSD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to appoint Dana Salles Trevethan as new Interim Superintendent, effective July 1 to June 30, 2016.
Although a majority of community members only view the Stanislaus County Fair as a 10-day affair in July, those involved in Stanislaus County 4-H see it as a long term engagement in which they spend months preparing and anticipating for their chance to exhibit their animals.
