Turlock Unified moves to even year election cycle

The Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees voted to transition from odd to even year elections Tuesday, effectively postponing what would have been the next Board member election in November to 2018. While a majority of the Board approved the change that aims to increase voter turnout, two trustees who voiced their intent during the Feb. 7 meeting to not seek reelection in 2017 voted against the change.

Hilmar students master social graces during annual Etiquette Day

Nearly 200 seventh graders walked the red carpet at Hilmar Middle School Wednesday and it wasn't just their dashing attire that caught the eyes of onlookers, but their unmistakable grasp of proper etiquette. Whether it was knowing where to place their utensils at the dinner table or showing off on the dance floor, these seventh graders proved just how well they perfected their table manners and more during the school's 20th annual Etiquette Day.

Denair Unified approves $150,000 in grant funding for college, career readiness

The Denair Unified School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved spending two $75,000 grants on Advanced Placement, college prep and intervention programs at Denair Charter Academy and Denair High School in hopes of boosting college and career readiness of all students.

Turlock school district considers moving election schedule, eliminating 2 board seats

When Turlockers head to the voting booths in November 2018 to elect California's next governor, they may also be deciding who will represent them on the Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees. The board of trustees is expected to soon decide if and when to switch from odd-year elections to even-year elections, following a report given by the school district's attorney regarding Senate Bill 415.
