Did you know that you can transform e-coli bacteria by injecting DNA extracted from a jelly fish that will create a florescent protein, which could then create insulin for use by a human diabetic? If you didn't know that (or even have a clue what protein exactly is) you can rest assured that a group of about 30 students from area high schools do know.

Teachers cry foul at DUSD layoffs
As the Denair Unified School District continues to struggle with its finances and leadership, some teachers are questioning the layoffs already made by the board of trustees. Since December, 18 teachers have been issued pink slip notifications. According to the school district, those layoffs were issued based on seniority, proper credentialing and specific personnel need. Cancer doesn't hamper Dutcher student's passion for learning
Very few of Raymond Perez's classmates at Dutcher Middle School know that he is a survivor.
