MJC Medical Assisting Program offers fall and spring starts to meet demand

TUSD Board considers projects for general obligation bond

The Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees took recommendations from the Bond Advisory Committee regarding the feasibility of proposed projects for the potential November 2016 bond measure at Tuesday's meeting. Though it was recommended that the Board vote to determine the proposed facilities for the bond measure, the vote was postponed due to uncertainty of which proposed projects should be placed on the measure.

Summer meal programs offer food security for local students

For many students, the arrival of summer is a cause for celebration. But, countless other children see the break from school as a loss of the daily nutritious meals provided by campus cafeterias, leading to food insecurity and hunger over the summer months. School districts in the area are addressing this problem by offering lunches to students over the summer, free of charge.

Turlock Adult School held its commencement ceremony on Wednesday, kicking off Turlock's graduation season. Students in the area will be marching to the beat of Pomp and Circumstance over the course of the next two weeks, with nine schools holding graduation ceremonies.

Cunningham Elementary salutes veterans at State Float Parade

Fifth grade students at Cunningham Elementary got a chance to display their float-building expertise on Wednesday when the school held its annual State Float Parade. Floats celebrating each of the nation's 50 states were marched throughout the campus, giving parents, teachers and others in attendance a chance to celebrate the approaching Memorial Day.

Denair announces new principals for high school, middle school and elementary campuses

When school starts again in Denair, students and staff will welcome new principals at three campuses. Kara Backman will take over at Denair High School, Kelly Beard will become the new leader at Denair Middle School and Lucy Zamora will take the reins at Denair Elementary Charter Academy.
