Turlock Unified continues to crack down on chronic absenteeism

While the number of chronically absent students at Turlock Unified School District has been on a steady decline over the past few years, Student Services Director Gil Ogden said there are no plans on the horizon to stop efforts to keep students in school and on time.

Modesto Junior College hosts High School Orchestra Day

Nine Stanislaus County high schools will perform in Modesto Junior College's High School Orchestra Day from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday in the Auditorium of the Performing and Media Arts Center on East Campus. The performance is free and open to the public and parking is free during event hours in the lots immediately surrounding the Auditorium.

THS Navy JROTC hosts annual Bulldog Challenge

Turlock High School's Navy JROTC program hosted its 4th annual Bulldog Challenge Field Meet on Saturday. Thirteen Central Valley schools from Dinuba to Stockton converged at THS for an all-day athletic, academic and air rifle competition. Over 700 students competed in various events such volleyball, soft ball, tug-o-war, mile relay and the very tough SEAL challenge or Ironman/Ironwoman competition. Ten of the schools competed in a Brain Brawl academic competition and cardboard boat race. THS' NJROTC brought home the first place trophy in academics, and the Bulldog air rifle team remains undefeated in competitions for the 2016-2017 season ...
