Two local wrestlers take gold at the Rumble in the Jungle

More than 700 wrestlers from 36 high schools flooded Pitman High on Saturday to compete in the 11th annual Rumble in the Jungle. For many, the tournament served as a tune-up for the fast approaching post-season, a chance for top-ranked wrestlers to square off against each other and get a feel for the elevated levels of competition they will soon face.

TC boys fall at home by one point

The Turlock Christian High boys basketball team (9-12, 4-5) went into Friday's Central California Athletic Alliance game with a goal: get one step closer to playoffs. Pitman still perfect in CCC

Three days after five of its wrestlers placed in the top-six at Midcals, Pitman High was back on the mat for a Tuesday night dual with Central California Conference foe Buhach Colony High. The Thunder entered the dual with only one league loss, a one-point defeat at the hands of Golden Valley High, and an aim to blemish Pitman's perfect CCC record.

Denair girls trump Delhi

Denair High bounced back from last week's fourth-quarter letdown against Le Grand High with its most dominant performance of the season on Monday. Hosting Delhi High, the Coyotes (6-7 overall; 2-2 SAL) controlled the court both offensively and took the win with a score of 72-44 - their highest output yet. Denair is now 2-2 in the Southern Athletic League and is set to face league frontrunner Gustine High on Tuesday.

Atwater beats Turlock in CCC opener

Turlock High's girls basketball team has struggled through a string of injuries in 2015. With the loss of sophomore standout Shae Williams for the season due to an ACL tear and issues with sprained ankles and concussions with a couple other players, the Bulldogs found themselves pulling up reserves from the JV ranks last week just to be able to compete.

Turlock, Hilmar golf headed to league championships with sense of security

League championships for boys golf will be held on Monday for schools across the area. These tournaments are typically a place for teams to put in one final, solid performance in the hopes of qualifying for Divisionals as a team, but for Turlock and Hilmar High, its respective tournaments will instead be a formality as its boys have a ticket to Divisionals all but in the bag.

Turlock softball goes 2-3 at Napa

Turlock High softball started this season's Central California Conference campaign o the right foot, winning three of its first five league games after winning a total of only two league games last season. After back-to-back one-run wins against Merced and Buhach Colony High the Bulldogs hit a snag, however, as they skid into spring break with a pair of losses to Atwater and Golden Valley High.
