Just a year ago in their first year in the Central California Athletic Association, the Turlock Christian High varsity volleyball team went 7-5 and won their third consecutive CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championship.
Since losing their only league contest to Stone Ridge Christian just over two weeks ago, the Turlock Christian Eagles varsity volleyball team has been on a winning streak-six to be exact-after edging out Stone Ridge at home on Tuesday in a 3-1 win, [25-21, 22-25, 25-23 and 25-18].
Pitman High's varsity soccer team found it tough to find the back of the net in the first half of Tuesday's penultimate Central California Conference contest of the season when they met Merced for the third time this season.
Pitman varsity volleyball head coach Kristen Pontes-Christian, who led the Pride to a 44-2 overall record and the State Championship just a year ago, had been sidelined for the past several weeks-but the Section champion coach is back.
The visitors' stands erupted for the Hilmar Yellowjackets after Friday night's contest ended between Hilmar and Hughson High in what turned out to be one of the most exciting Trans Valley League games of the season, coming down to the final play.
Barring a highly unlikely upset in Atwater this Friday night, and you never say never when it comes to any contest in the Central California Conference, the Turlock High football team will record the 500th victory in the history of the Bulldogs' program.
