With football being such a rich and successful tradition at Hilmar High, it seems like the basketball program takes the back seat - especially after coming away with only one winning season since 2007.
Pitman High volleyball has been synonymous with dominance in 2014. The Pride steamrolled nearly every opponent they faced this season with its combination of size, power and speed. And when a team rose to the occasion to provide Pitman with a challenge, its girls seemed to persevere through sheer force of will.

The Turlock Christian High girls basketball team was seven points away from capturing a CIF Division VI Sac-Joaquin Section title last year, after losing in the championship game to Valley Christian 47-54.
When Don Inman took over the Hilmar High girls basketball program back in the 2010-11 season, the Yellowjackets made the playoffs in his first year at the helm. Four years later, the 'Jackets have made it to the playoffs in three of the last four seasons, however, have fell in all their respective opening rounds.
The Denair High girls basketball program has been in a decade-long downslide, accumulating zero winning seasons in that 10 year span. Enter Mike Turpin as the Coyotes new head coach. The future already looks bright for the Coyotes after the team's best start since before the 2004-05 season.
The Turlock Christian Eagles volleyball team was one win away from competing in the CIF Division VI Nor Cal championship game, but their fate was decided this past weekend after falling in the semifinal match to Anderson Valley in straight sets.
In his second year as the head coach for Turlock Christian boys varsity basketball team, Eddie Sai led his team to their second consecutive postseason berth with an 18-10 record last year, but the Eagles unfortunately lost in the opening round of the playoffs.
Turlock High has dusted off its wrestling gear and is back on the mat for the 2014 winter season. After finishing third in the Central California Conference last year and graduating two state qualifiers, the Bulldogs return with a handful of experienced wrestlers and a crop of fresh faces as they aim to take league and return to state once again.

The Pitman High varsity wrestling team is coming off the most successful season in school history after winning its first Central California Conference title in 2013-14 and posting a 12-1 overall record.
Coming off a devastating defeat to Sonora High in the CIF Division-IV Sac-Joaquin Section Championship, Hilmar High's volleyball team was hoping to bounce back in the CIF Northern California State Tournament but things ended quickly for the Yellowjackets who lost in straight sets, 0-3.
