Pitman softball chasing Merced

With only five games left in the Central California Conference season, Pitman High softball is on a mission to dethrone two-time defending CCC champs Merced High. The Pride continued their hunt for the Bears' first place position on Friday with a 10-1 home win against rival Turlock High, extending their league record to 9-6 and closing Merced's lead by only two games.

The Pitman High Pride varsity baseball team is now 6-1 in the Central California Conference after beating Atwater, 2-1, on Friday afternoon thanks to Josh Hernandez's 6 and 2/3 innings pitched as he gave up only one run on four hits and walked two.

Pitman softball starts 2-0 in Nor Cal Classic

Pitman High's softball team is currently competing in the Northern California Classic Tournament in Tracy, and as of Friday, the Pride are a perfect 2-0 after sweeping through Santa Teresa and Los Banos in their opening games.

Turlock softball goes 2-3 at Napa

Turlock High softball started this season's Central California Conference campaign o the right foot, winning three of its first five league games after winning a total of only two league games last season. After back-to-back one-run wins against Merced and Buhach Colony High the Bulldogs hit a snag, however, as they skid into spring break with a pair of losses to Atwater and Golden Valley High.

Three 'Jackets take gold at MJC Invite

Hilmar High's track team is, as it has been for some time, on the small side this year. Not physically, but in overall numbers. There are roughly 40 athletes filling the overall roster, most of whom are young, which has made the 2015 hunt for the Trans Valley League title a non-issue for the Yellowjackets.

Community supports athletes at inaugural basketball event

The First Annual Central Valley Senior Showcase not only highlighted the talents of local athletes Thursday night, but of the community at large. The inaugural event also showcased the community's pride and willingness to support its members as more than 700 spectators flooded into the Turlock High boys gym for the pair of exhibition games.

The Turlock Christian High baseball team has turned around its four game losing streak to win four consecutive Central California Athletic Alliance contests with the latest of the victories coming as the team's biggest win of the season on Thursday after topping Sierra, 23-3.

Coming off a devastating loss to Turlock High last weekend, Pitman moved on quicker than most teams in the ultra competitive Central California Conference with a 4-1 blistering win over Buhach Colony on Tuesday and followed up with a 2-2 tie at Merced High against the Bears on Thursday.

Denair tennis finishes league tournament with two wins

Denair High tennis head coach Bill Weber has his sights set on a long and prosperous future the Coyote program and he is off to a good start. After Friday's Southern Athletic League tournament, Denair can boast two league winners in the mixed doubles and the boys singles brackets.

Pitman finishes series with Turlock 2-1

Turlock High won the final game of its three-game series with rival Pitman High Friday afternoon, beating the Pride 8-3 after falling 0-7 on Tuesday and 5-6 on Thursday. But while Pitman walked away from Turlock's home field in the loser's column on Friday, its boys exited the week as winners, at least partially, of the Central California Conference with only one win needed to claim the outright championship.

Turlock, Hilmar golf headed to league championships with sense of security

League championships for boys golf will be held on Monday for schools across the area. These tournaments are typically a place for teams to put in one final, solid performance in the hopes of qualifying for Divisionals as a team, but for Turlock and Hilmar High, its respective tournaments will instead be a formality as its boys have a ticket to Divisionals all but in the bag.

Alyssa Stockton signs with CSU Bakersfield

Alyssa Stockton has experienced her fair share of success during her 11 years in a softball uniform, but her biggest achievement was undoubtedly reached on Friday when she signed her letter of intent for California State University, Bakersfield where she will become one of the Roadrunners' pitchers.
