Pitman tops Golden Valley

Pitman High soccer remains atop the Central California Conference standings after a 2-0 defeat of Golden Valley High on Monday. The speedy Cougars (3-1 CCC) pressured the Pride (2-0-2 CCC) throughout the match but were unable to capitalize on a number of scoring opportunities or take advantage of penalty-driven player adjustments on Pitman's part.

Turlock girls notch first CCC win

The beginning of the Central California Conference season has been trying for Turlock High's girls soccer team. One year removed from an undefeated CCC championship, the Bulldogs (1-3 CCC) dropped their first three games of league play, each by only one goal.

Bulldogs route defending CCC champs

Turlock High's second matchup against Buhach Colony High on Friday was its chance to establish its presence in the Central California Conference for the 2013 season-and its boys took full advantage of it. Two days removed from beating the defending champions 5-1 in the CCC opener, the Bulldogs again took the Thunder to task with a 2-1 effort.

Pride sweep Cougars to open CCC

Pitman High started its Central California Conference season with a big win over Golden Valley High on Wednesday. Four days removed from their loss in the Pedretti Championship, the Pride bounced back in impressive fashion with a 6-0 shutout over the Cougars at home.

Second half comeback secures win for Delhi soccer

For 45 minutes on Friday it looked like Denair High was going to notch its first Southern Athletic League win of the season over rival Delhi High. In the end it wasn't meant to be, however, as the Lady Hawks (2-1 SAL) mounted a second half comeback for a 3-2 victory to keep the Coyotes (0-3 SAL) out of the winner's column.

Local small schools rebuilding baseball rosters

The 2013 baseball season has been one of youth and rebuilding for Delhi, Denair, Turlock Christian, and Hilmar High. All four schools have hit the field with a roster made up of players with little varsity experience, but their rawness hasn't detracted from their game-time efforts. Though growth may be a steady and sometimes difficult process, Hawks, Coyotes, Eagles, and Yellowjackets alike are taking up the challenge and swinging for the fences.

Delhi softball enters league play strong

Pre-season is officially over for the softball teams of Delhi, Denair, Turlock Christian, and Hilmar High. Now, with the hunt for league standings and post-season berths underway, the various lady players from around the area are doing their best to excel under their different sets of circumstances.

SAL athletes shine at first league meet

The Southern Athletic League soaked in the sun on Saturday in its first league meet of the season. Denair, Delhi, and Turlock Christian High had several outstanding performers on both the track and on the field in what was the first true test of the year for many of their athletes.

Turlock takes home Pedretti trophy

For the first time in its 29 year history, the Atch Pedretti Tournament trophy was guaranteed a resting spot in Turlock after Pitman and Turlock High climbed their way into Saturday's championship game. The Bulldogs had earned their shot by putting up a combined 20 runs in the first two rounds of tournament play while the Pride's route involved closely contested matchups and a bit of luck.

Pitman’s girls claim county meet title for sixth time

Pitman High had a successful outing at the Stanislaus County Meet on Friday as its girls finished in first place with 154 team points and its boys finished second with 80 team points. Turlock High wasn't too far behind its cross-town rival as both its girls and boys finished in third place with 78 and 70 respective team points.

TC’s season ends at State Playoffs

Turlock Christian High's girls basketball season officially ended Saturday night in the second round of the CIF Division V State Playoffs. The Eagles faced off against International High in a competitive contest, but the Jaguars managed to stay a few steps ahead throughout the matchup and walked off their home court with a 61-47 victory.

Rivals collide in today’s Pedretti Championship

The championship game of the 29th annual Atch Pedretti Tournament will be played today at 1:30 p.m. - and for the first time in history rivals Turlock and Pitman High will be competing for the rights to the title.

Still balling: Bergman leads TC over St. Francis

For the second year in a row Halie Bergman has led Turlock Christian High to a first round win in the CIF Division V California State Girls Basketball Tournament. Bergman notched 39 points, 18 rebounds, 7 steals, 5 assists, and 6 blocked shots as the Eagles defeated St. Francis High, 63-56, on Wednesday and earned a second round matchup with International High tonight.

Pride notch first league win over Merced

Pitman High passed it first test in the Central California Conference Wednesday afternoon when its girls hosted Merced High in the league opener. The Pride overcame the speedy Bears with a second half effort, shutting them out 3-0.

Pride softball seeks second league title; Turlock starts strong

It's called softball, but the ladies of Turlock and Pitman High have been working hard as they prepare for the 2013 Central California Conference season. With pre-season play already in full swing and the beginning of league just a few days away, the Bulldogs and Pride are both building team chemistry and supplying their young teams with invaluable experience; foundations they hope will carry them to a championship and into the post-season.

Denair tennis bests RC

Not even a car crash could keep Brian Dudley and Andrew Knapp, Denair tennis' number one and two singles players, from seeking retribution against league juggernauts Ripon Christian on Friday. The two Coyote players were involved in a head-on collision on their way to the match, but still managed to make it to the courts where they won their matches in the 7-2 effort over the Knights.

Pitman pitches shutout in third straight game

Pitman High thoroughly beat Merced High on the baseball diamond Monday afternoon in the Pride's second Central California Conference game of the season. Four days removed from beating Golden Valley High 8-0, Pitman again pitched a shutout as they handed Merced its third consecutive loss by a score of 10-0.
