The post season has always been a tough road for local wrestling teams, but with this year's shakeup of the post season format - specifically the inclusion of Folsom and Del Oro High in the new Sac-Joaquin Section Division I AA Championships - that road proved to be even more difficult for Turlock and Pitman High.

Rentfro, Flores and Mendoza qualify for Masters

TC headed for D-IV semifinals

For the eighth straight year the Turlock Christian High girls varsity basketball team is in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division-IV semifinal round of the postseason after trouncing Freedom Christian on Tuesday night, 66-26.

Bulldogs eliminate Vikings

Despite claiming the Central California Conference championship this season, Turlock found itself seeded 15th in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I Championships when the playoff brackets were released earlier this week, setting up a buy-in game at home against 18th seed Edison High on Friday.

Turlock Christian High's league finale against Big Valley Christian High on Thursday came down to the wire as the Eagles were dealt their second closest lost via a four-point margin, 57-61.

Delhi spoils Denair’s homecoming with one-point victory

Homecoming night didn't fare well for the Denair High boys basketball team on Friday (3-7). The Coyotes seemed almost destined for the victory, but the visiting Hawks of Delhi (6-3) managed to nudge out the one-point victory in the final seconds, 47-46, in dramatic fashion.

Turlock boys win CCC

Turlock High has won the Central California Conference boys basketball championship for the first time since the 2010-11 season after defeating the defending CCC title holders, Golden Valley High, 52-36 on Friday.

Two local wrestlers take gold at the Rumble in the Jungle

More than 700 wrestlers from 36 high schools flooded Pitman High on Saturday to compete in the 11th annual Rumble in the Jungle. For many, the tournament served as a tune-up for the fast approaching post-season, a chance for top-ranked wrestlers to square off against each other and get a feel for the elevated levels of competition they will soon face.

TC boys fall at home by one point

The Turlock Christian High boys basketball team (9-12, 4-5) went into Friday's Central California Athletic Alliance game with a goal: get one step closer to playoffs. A late push from the visiting Sierra Ridge Academy High (5-5) Rams, however, made the Eagles' road to the postseason that much harder.

Pitman still perfect in CCC

Three days after five of its wrestlers placed in the top-six at Midcals, Pitman High was back on the mat for a Tuesday night dual with Central California Conference foe Buhach Colony High. The Thunder entered the dual with only one league loss, a one-point defeat at the hands of Golden Valley High, and an aim to blemish Pitman's perfect CCC record.
