Bulldogs defeat Pitman; even cross-town series

The Turlock High boys soccer team bounced back from two weeks of disappointment with a 1-0 victory over rival Pitman High on Saturday. In an always appreciated night game, the Bulldogs (3-3-3 CCC) asserted control over the Pride (3-2-5 CCC) for most of the match, a complete reversal from the first matchup against Pitman which ended in a loss.

Sisters first, rivals second

Cami and Victoria Larsen are sisters, so an occasional face-off over borrowed clothing or a sibling disagreement isn't a farfetched sight to see for parents Keith and Shaun. Still, conflict and competition between the two is rare; their distinctive personalities tend to complement each other rather than clash and their shared interests quash the stereotypical tension that is often expected between teenaged sisters.

Knights slay the Eagles

It was a matchup of opposites Friday night when Turlock Christian High hosted Ripon Christian High at McSweeney field in Hilmar. The Eagles entered the game with a Southern Athletic League record of 0-2 and a pass centered offense while the Knights arrived with a 2-0 in the SAL and a rush based attack.

Pitman volleyball beats Buhach in three

Buhach Colony High became the 8th Central California Conference opponent to face Pitman High on the volleyball court this season and walk away in defeat. The Pride (8-0 CCC) hammered the Thunder on Thursday, maintaining their undefeated record with a straight set effort (25-13, 25-22, and 25-19).

Turlock High's number one singles player, Natalia Lima, fell short against Golden Valley High's Lindsay Robson on Thursday in only her second individual loss of the season, but solid play from the rest of the Bulldog (7-1 CCC) squad was more than enough to claim team victory as the Cougars fell 8-1.

TC’s Morelli breaks gender barrier on Eagles football squad

Soccer players turned field goal kickers: what was once a novel idea has become a recurring trend in high schools and colleges around the nation, local teams not excluded. Turlock and Hilmar High have a history of enlisting soccer standouts for kicking duties, but the Bulldogs and Yellowjackets aren't alone this year because Turlock Christian High has jumped into the fold with senior Arin Morelli.

It was a close match between Turlock and Pitman High when the Lady Bulldogs and Pride met in the Steve Feaver Aquatic Center on Tuesday, or in the words of Turlock Head Coach Sonja Raynes, "It was a barn burner."

Second half effort gives Turlock win over Pitman

It was a game to remember between Turlock and Pitman High's boys water polo teams on Tuesday. The Pride (0-5 CCC) opened the first half with a surprisingly dominant performance against Turlock but the second half, and the match, ultimately belonged to the Bulldogs (2-3 CCC) as they rode an offensive wave to a 12-8 victory.

Schools often schedule weak opponents for homecoming, but Hilmar High opted for a different route, welcoming a challenge in the undefeated Orestimba High Warriors on Friday. Anxiety was in the air for all four quarters as Hilmar and Orestimba put on a show for the fans at McSweeney field, trading hard shots and touchdowns.
