There’s no place like home

After a successful softball career at Hilmar High, Stesha Brazil traveled to the University of Houston to strike out on her own and continue her playing days. A year passed at Houston and Brazil quickly found herself missing the familiar, more specifically her family, and so she decided to return to the Valley, mitt in hand. Now, Brazil is a Fresno State Bulldog helping her new team chase the top spot in the WAC - all while her family watches.

Stanislaus signs local talent

Maecie Ireland has been playing soccer since the fifth grade. Her playing days started with the Turlock Tornadoes where she played for four years and developed an appreciation for the sport. When junior high was over Ireland joined the Turlock Bulldogs as well as the Modesto Ajax, committing herself to a rigorous schedule for the love of the game. Now, with her high school days nearing their end, Ireland has decided to extend her dedication to the sport, signing with California State Stanislaus.

The men's and women's basketball teams at California State University, Stanislaus wrapped up a run of four straight home games Saturday night against Cal State Dominguez Hills. The men's team played a close game, winning by the nail biting score of 59-58. Stanislaus' women also beat Dominguez Hills in a close matchup, defeating the Toros 57-53.

Stanislaus dominates Dominican in home victory

The men's basketball team at California State University, Stanislaus blew by Dominican University Thursday 82-68. The Warriors (7-2) were led by Reggie Jones who finished the game with 24 points, 17 of which came in the first quarter. Jones also recorded 10 rebounds against the Penguins (1-10) who surprised those in attendance with a competitive first half.

Local soccer talent named All American

Since graduating from Turlock High in 2010 and joining Modesto Junior College's women's soccer team Sara Latham has experienced a high degree of success. Last year she was named to the All Regional Team, last fall she was named Big 8 Conference Player of the Year and last week she was selected to the JC All-American Division III team.
