Despite nearly pulling off a comeback, Turlock National loses ace, falls to Atwater

Things were going quite well for the 10-year-old Turlock National Little League All-Stars during the first few innings at Soderquist Park on Thursday night. They were ahead by three runs and collecting hits like it was a hobby, not to mention having pitcher Anthony Encalade humble the Atwater All-Stars one by one.

Turlock American All-Stars produce all-around performance

The Turlock American All-Stars in the 10-to-11-year-old division of Area 2's California District 10 knew how to get their Little League game started on Monday, thanks to a run in the first inning that was backed up by solid pitching by Damon Treadwell before they held on to win 5-2 over the Los Banos American in front of a large crowd at Julien Field.

Thousands compete at annual swim meet in Turlock

In one of the biggest swim meets of the summer, easily more than 1,000 swimmers aged 18 and under participated in the SeaDog Invitational at Pitman High on Saturday. The event, in its 43rd year, attracted teams from the Mid-Valley Swim League, including the Sea Dogs Swim Team and Turlock Marlins.

Oh, to be young. The Turlock National Little League 10-12-year-old City Championship matchup is set. The double-elimination set - which starts today at 5 p.m. - will feature the American Orioles, who have yet to lose in the tournament, against the American Cubs, who are fresh off a 15-2 rout of the National Pirates on Thursday at Soderquist Park.

Junior Olympic athlete bounces back from injury to finish third in javelin

Cerah Moren is a 10-year-old who doesn't let the aftermath of an injury affect her.
