Turlock Scavenger Company gets (the) bid to take over waste management garbage routes in unincorporated areas. These unincorporated area residents get a lowed monthly rate. Can you believe it? Their rate (of) $20.92 (falls) to $18.65, that's a savings of $2.27.
Recently some of us who are dissatisfied with the local bus system went to Mr. (Roger) Fall, who manages the bus routes, and asked him to change the routes. He did not make a definite commitment, but he called two meetings on Sept. 23 at which time residents may air their grievances.
As I picked up the Turlock Journal Wednesday morning, the first thing that caught my eye was an article entitled "In God We Trust?" With great interest I opened up the newspaper and read the article and my heart sank.
Thank you so much for bringing the sad fact that there are no Sept. 11 remembrance events held in town to the attention of the citizens of Turlock. For years I have been asking why the schools have done nothing on the anniversary of 9-11 every year. The recent arrest of Anna Ybarra for embezzlement is the very sad result of another supposed adult selfishly tarnishing an organization developed for the enjoyment of children.
The forthcoming election has brought out many large and very bright signs for the candidates. Wouldn't it be nice if Turlock had an ordinance prohibiting the placement of signs before Oct. 1? While the signs make a point, they do not provide information on who the candidates are, their education, background, or their knowledge of the Ed-code of California. What about their positions on those issues not controlled by County and State Educational Codes and policies? And most important , what is the extent of their knowledge of educational finances?

On August 13, 2009, the City of Turlock received written correspondence from the Freedom from Religion Foundation urging the City Council to discontinue the practice of scheduling an invocation before Turlock City Council meetings.
The citizens of Turlock will have the opportunity Nov. 4 to make a commitment to fixing Turlock roads by voting YES on Measure B. Turlock roads have suffered from years of neglect as a result of not having a dedicated funding source and it's time that we take control of maintaining our investment in Turlock's transportation infrastructure.
