It was great to see the Turlock High water polo team looking so good [in Friday's Turlock Journal]. I have a vested interest in the team since my oldest son, Aaron, is the head coach. I see the last names of many of the sons of former players who were on the team under the late Steve Feaver. I know if Steve was around to see how the team is doing, he would approve of Aaron replacing him.

Considering the events of the past week, I find it appalling that the president did not call for flags to be flown half staff for the four Marines who were killed in Chattanooga. I also find it shameful that we allow our elected officials to display this kind of behavior.
The Turlock Fire Department wants our citizens and community to have a happy and safe July 4th Holiday. We want to remind our citizens that only fireworks with the State of California Fire Marshal approval are legal to use in the City of Turlock. Fireworks that fly into the air or explode are considered illegal and are highly dangerous. The last few years, both the Fire and Police Departments have confiscated a number of illegal fireworks from our citizens. Working in the field of drug addiction, I have come in contact with many people and families struggling and dealing with a loved one, a friend or family member who have become addicted or that drugs are bringing significate negative consequences in their lives. I am asked quite a lot, how do you prevent this from happening?
We are based in the United Kingdom and are fortunate enough to travel the world house sitting. We have spent the last month based in the lovely Turlock and wanted to express our thanks to those we have had the good fortune to meet here. In particular the volunteers in The Turlock Historical Centre whom we questioned for over an hour( poor things); the welcoming staff in LaMo who made us feel like regulars; every single service deliverer who had a smile and cheery greeting for us and of course our host Mary and her extended family.
