Pitman and Denair’s girls come up short in playoffs

Pitman High's postseason ended before it really began on Monday when the Pride (13-15 overall) faced Chavez High of Stockton. The Titans (16-11 overall) took advantage of a low energy Pitman team that struggled to find the basket, winning the out bracket game 51-44.

Pitman upsets Buhach Colony

Pitman High's boys finished off their season with a 55-50 upset over Buhach Colony High Wednseday night. The Thunder (9-5 CCC) arrived at Pitman's gym tied with Turlock in the CCC but a determined Pride (8-7 CCC) team knocked them down to third place and out of title contention.

TC claims Southern Crown again

The lady Eagles of Turlock Christian High earned their third consecutive Southern Conference title with Thursday's 76-31 victory over Waterford High. TC once again hit the court without Halie Bergman but the trio of Rebekah Muller (22 points), Natalie Snyder (22 points), and Marly Burton (15 points) stepped up to help the Eagles close out conference play decidedly. Muller and Burton also controlled the boards on defense, recording fifteen and fourteen rebounds respectively.

Turlock boys take second; eye playoffs.

Turlock High had the CCC title within its grasp when they hosted Golden Valley High on Wednesday in the final league game of the season. After five emotionally driven victories the Bulldogs (10-5 CCC) were unable to match Golden Valley's intensity, falling to the Cougars (11-3 CCC) for the third time this year, 61-37.

Pitman tames Bulldogs

Last year Turlock High took the CCC title but it was Pitman High's turn this time around. Thursday marked the third and final matchup between the Bulldogs (9-6 CCC) and Pride (11-4 CCC) this season and Pitman's 45-33 victory marked the first ever basketball championship for the school.

Denair falls to Delhi in season finale

Denair High's final game against Delhi High had no implications on a conference title or for playoffs. The Coyotes (3-11 Southern) entered Friday's game against the Hawks motivated by a will to win for themselves and end their season on a high note. Delhi (8-6 Southern) had similar motivation, however, and its intensity overwhelmed Denair for a 67-62 win.

The last time the Turlock American Junior All-Stars stepped onto the baseball field of Pedretti Sports Complex, they waited until the final inning to knock in runs and make a rally.

Warriors fall to No. 8 Chico State

Against the No. 8 team in the country, the Cal State Stanislaus baseball team rallied twice from behind but wasn't able to hold off Chico State in the first game of a doubleheader, losing 7-2 in 12 innings on Thursday in Chico. In the nightcap, the Wildcats squeaked by with a 3-2 win in seven innings.

Bulldogs extend undefeated record

As the weeks and games go by, the Turlock High baseball team is beginning to look more and more like an unstoppable force.The latest evidence of this came Thursday afternoon at the Bulldogs' own baseball field, where they powered through with another win. This time, it a 4-1 triumph over Buhach Colony High in Central California Conference action, improving Turlock's league record to 2-0 to go along with an undefeated mark of 8-0.The Bulldogs' schedule gets more difficult, however.Next up is a series against Merced High, as Turlock hosts the first game at 4 p.m ...

Pitman, Turlock swing into action

The Pitman and Turlock boys tennis teams will face each other in their annual meeting on Tuesday afternoon at the Pitman High tennis courts. Expect the match to be a close one, especially since the Pride and Bulldogs split the CCC title last season.The meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m.It also marks one of two crosstown rivalry games between Turlock's two big high schools, with the other being the girls soccer matchup at 4 p.m. Tuesday at nearby Turlock Sports Complex.

Pitman softball out to hot start

Judging by how things are working out so far, the Pitman High Pride's softball season is going to be unlike recent years. The Pride are already 7-2 overall after Wednesday's Central California Conference opening victory over league favorite Merced High.
