Denair volleyball tops Delhi in SAL matchup

Denair High volleyball found some payback Monday night, as the Coyotes won out over the Delhi Hawks in their second Southern Athletic League matchup, 3-1. What began as a competitive first set, resulted in a Coyote victory over the Hawks (26-24, 25-7, 21-25 and 25-19).

Hawks dominate Coyotes on the soccer field

When Delhi and Denair High soccer teams met earlier in the season, it was a grudge match that ended with a 1-0 win for the Hawks in the Southern Athletic League competition. This time, Delhi traveled to Denair and came out victorious once again, but by a larger margin.

Competition gains ground for girls’ golf teams

Local high schools throughout the Valley saw their respective girls golf squads go through a learning phase last year as Pitman High started a new era with a first year head coach; Turlock continued to excel and gain valuable experience winning their ninth consecutive league title; and Hilmar was just a few strokes from winning three straight league titles.

Hawks soccer seeks SAL repeat; Hilmar, Denair set sights on playoffs

The Delhi High boys' soccer team made a statement in last season's Southern Athletic League. The Hawks finished first in the league with a 11-1-2 record, outscoring opponents 64 to 10, along with a 16-4-2 overall record, and an offense that racked up 85 goals for the season, averaging just under four goals per game.

Tennis squads ready to post victories

In 2012, the Central California Conference girls' tennis season saw a crazy year after Pitman High struggled with a 1-9 record, placing last in league, while Turlock High - at 15-4 - were co-champions with Merced in the CCC.

Hilmar pushes past Turlock in straight sets

Hilmar High rolled through its second Central California Conference team in a week Thursday night when the 'Jackets (14-4 overall) defeated Turlock High two days after doing the same to Atwater High. Hilmar beat the Bulldogs (8-4 overall) in straight sets (27-25, 25-11, and 25-18) as team defense and a powerful offensive attack from Emily Baptista paved the way.

Late goal ties it for Bulldogs

Turlock's Sergio Jiminez knocked in the first goal of Wednesday's home game in the fifth minute against East Union but it wasn't enough as the Lancers tied the game about halfway through the second half to end the game at 1-1.
