Thursday's Central California Conference showdown between Turlock and Pitman High's boys' golf teams proved to be a very significant contest as the battle for second place heated up.
The Turlock Wrestling Club marked the end of the Folkstyle season with an 11th place team finish at last weekend's 2015 Flo Reno Worlds Championships. Eight of the club's 28 participating wrestlers placed fifth or better in their respective brackets, including Mason Ontiveros (60) who won gold in the 6U division.
Although the 2015 season hasn't brought a winning year for Delhi (2-7-1) and Denair (0-8-2) High's varsity girls' soccer squads, the two teams have been grinding out in the Southern Athletic League with the top teams in the standings and on Wednesday afternoon both teams met for a showdown.

Fresh off a Nor Cal Classic Tournament appearance, the Delhi High varsity softball team was looking to begin a winning streak heading into the final half of league play, as they came off a 5-3 win over Durham in their final game of the tourney this past Saturday, but instead ran into a wall on Tuesday.
With the end of the regular season in sight, Turlock, Pitman and Hilmar High golf took a break from the Central California Conference and the Trans Valley League for non-league competition at the Pitman Invitational at the Diablo Grande Golf & Country Club in Patterson on Monday.
