The losing streak is finally over for the Pitman High (8-13, 1-6) girls' basketball team after Thursday's Central California Conference showdown at home.

Turlock upsets Merced in OT

The last time the girls of Turlock High faced Merced High on the basketball court the Bulldogs were beat by double digits in their second league loss in as many league games. Turlock continued to fall short in the Central California Conference up until last week when it earned its first league win of the season against rival Pitman High.

Since dropping their first Central California Conference matchup last week to Golden Valley in devastating fashion, the Turlock High Bulldogs have quickly responded by winning two straight.

Turlock loses in closing seconds to GV

After a 3-0 start in the Central California Conference this season, the Turlock High Bulldogs were looking to make it four straight league wins at home, but Golden Valley became the spoilers of the night as they topped the 'Dogs, 55-52, after a big stop at the end that included a questionable call.

Coyotes in position to challenge for share of league title

Denair High's wrestling team has once again gained control if its destiny with Wednesday's 57-18 win over Delhi High. Having lost their first dual of the season to Waterford High, the Coyotes (2-1 SAL) were pleased to find out that the Wildcats were handed their first league loss by Mariposa High on Wednesday. Denair is now in position to claim a share of the Southern Athletic League Championship if it can beat Mariposa when the two schools meet next week.

Fresh off a tight loss to Atwater, the Pitman High girls' basketball was searching any way possible to pick up their first Central California Conference victory, but came up just short after an overtime thriller with Merced Thursday night.

Atwater no match for Turlock on the mat

Fresh off their first defeat to Buhach Colony, 29-36, last week in the Central California Conference opener, the Turlock High wrestling team bounced back on Wednesday night with their first league win of the season over Atwater High, 56-13.

Pitman beats Atwater at home

Pitman High picked up its first Central California Conference win Wednesday night with a 59-45 defeat of visiting Atwater High. Coming off a loss to Golden Valley High that saw their boys allow 24 points in the fourth quarter, the Pride shored up its defense against the Falcons with bookend quarters, allowing only eight points in the first quarter and only nine in the fourth.

After starting off the 38th annual Frank Godinez basketball tournament on a slow pace, the Pitman High boys' varsity team turned things around at the end as they finished in the winner's column after topping Ceres High, 65-46 on Saturday.

Pitman drops first game of Godinez

Pitman came into the 38th annual Frank Godinez Boys Basketball Tournament hoping that the start would result in a victory but they met the undefeated Beyer Patriots (6-0) who are off to one of the best starts to-date and for the second time in six games, lost by a score of 43-63.

Turlock rolls through Ceres in day one of Godinez Tournament

Turlock High hit the court with a bang Thursday night in the first day of the 38th annual Frank Godinez Boys Basketball Tournament with a 66-37 win over Ceres High, snapping a two-game losing streak and setting up a game with Ripon High tonight.
