Hurdles were always Mallory Patino's forte. Before graduating from Turlock High in 2013, Patino earned a name for herself on the track with three consecutive Central California Conference titles in the 300m hurdles.
Conditioning is done and on Monday the Hilmar Youth Football Packers began their first week of practice as the Jr. Novice, Novice, JV and Varsity levels all laced up their cleats and padded up for the start of a fresh season.
Last year, Mariya Fefilova joined California State University, Monterey Bay as an outside back for the women's soccer team and encountered familiar circumstances for any freshman collegiate athlete. The Turlock American All Stars barreled into the 11 year-old State Tournament on Sunday carrying major heat, defeating all opponents who stood in their way in the District and Section tournaments by a combined run total of 33-3.

Disappointment comes in many forms, but for Brandon Bettencourt it came in the form of a dislocated shoulder a little over three years ago. For the first time in nine years, the Stanislaus U18 Babe Ruth Cardinals will not be vying for the Central California State Tournament championship. After executing a comeback win in their opening game on Friday, the Cardinals were dealt back-to-back losses by Bullard on Saturday and Delano on Sunday and were unexpectedly eliminated from the tournament.

After 16 long years of trying Denair's Tony Silveira was finally able to smash and bash his way to victory in Monday night's "Traditional Turmoil" Demolition Derby, presented by the Turlock Lions Club, in the Food Maxx Arena at the Stanislaus County Fair.
