Coyotes in position to challenge for share of league title

Denair High's wrestling team has once again gained control if its destiny with Wednesday's 57-18 win over Delhi High. Having lost their first dual of the season to Waterford High, the Coyotes (2-1 SAL) were pleased to find out that the Wildcats were handed their first league loss by Mariposa High on Wednesday. Denair is now in position to claim a share of the Southern Athletic League Championship if it can beat Mariposa when the two schools meet next week.

Fresh off their first defeat to Buhach Colony, 29-36, last week in the Central California Conference opener, the Turlock High wrestling team bounced back on Wednesday night with their first league win of the season over Atwater High, 56-13.

Pitman beats Atwater at home

Pitman High picked up its first Central California Conference win Wednesday night with a 59-45 defeat of visiting Atwater High. Coming off a loss to Golden Valley High that saw their boys allow 24 points in the fourth quarter, the Pride shored up its defense against the Falcons with bookend quarters, allowing only eight points in the first quarter and only nine in the fourth.

After starting off the 38th annual Frank Godinez basketball tournament on a slow pace, the Pitman High boys' varsity team turned things around at the end as they finished in the winner's column after topping Ceres High, 65-46 on Saturday.

Pitman drops first game of Godinez

Pitman came into the 38th annual Frank Godinez Boys Basketball Tournament hoping that the start would result in a victory but they met the undefeated Beyer Patriots (6-0) who are off to one of the best starts to-date and for the second time in six games, lost by a score of 43-63.

Turlock Wrestling places 11th at Reno Worlds

The Turlock Wrestling Club marked the end of the Folkstyle season with an 11th place team finish at last weekend's 2015 Flo Reno Worlds Championships. Eight of the club's 28 participating wrestlers placed fifth or better in their respective brackets, including Mason Ontiveros (60) who won gold in the 6U division.

Pitman snatches victory from Turlock

Pitman High hosted rival Turlock High Tuesday afternoon in the second cross-town soccer match of the season. The Bulldogs (7-2-1 CCC) entered the match on a five-game win streak and with a share of first place in the Central California Conference. The Pride (4-4-2 CCC) entered with third-place status in the CCC and the memory of their last meeting with Turlock, a 3-1 loss, fresh in their minds.

Delhi falls to first place Orestimba at home

Rage 16U wins big in Windy City
