Wal-Mart donates new canine

Officer injured during 2002 pursuit dies

A Modesto police officer critically injured in a collision seven years ago, died Thursday. Sgt. Steve May, 53, never regained consciousness following the 2002 accident. Volunteers recognized by county

Planada resident Flora Martinez has been serving her community since 1964, when she volunteered to collect information for a survey being done by the World on Poverty. Health department warns consumers not to eat certain Bavan brand candies from India

Dr. Ron Chapman, director of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), issued a warning to consumers not to eat BAVAN Brand Sugar Rewari candy imported from India, after tests conducted by CDPH found unacceptable levels of lead. The candy is also packaged under the names Sugar Redoi and Sugar Reori. Consumers in possession of the candy should discard it immediately.
