The Journal visited with Turlock hometown favorite and Pitman High alum Colin Kaepernick after he and fellow Niners quarterback Blaine Gabbert participated in 7-on-7 drills at the training facility in Santa Clara earlier this month.
Lewis Gonzalez is in a familiar position, training with his teammates and preparing for an upcoming MMA fight. In his fifth year as a professional mixed martial artist and with a Welterweight bout against Bobby Nash at Global Knockout 7 on the horizon, it's business as usual for the Turlock native who is in the midst of a career climb back to a national promotion.

The NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series made their tradition trip to wine country in Sonoma for the 29th annual Toyota Sonoma Nationals. This is the second of three races of the NHRA's Western swing, and all the teams are feeling the pressure as the count down to the championship nears with just three races left to get into the six race playoff.

Spencer Heller of Turlock might have missed the final cut to compete in this weekend's final at the 71st U.S. Women's Open, but that doesn't mean that she is done with golf or with her goal of achieving a spot in the tour, this is only the beginning.
Brett Cumberland and Blake Cederlind were standout baseball players during their years at Turlock High. Now, after a couple years on different paths, but still related to baseball, both are top 5 round picks in this year's Major League Baseball draft.
Stockton 99 Speedway will host its 68th season of racing competition when the historic quarter-mile fires up the lights on Saturday night. The speedway will heavily emphasize a revived local program in 2016 with the Noceti Group presenting a full season of points racing. The N. Wilson Way oval will welcome the return of Late Models and Grand American Modifieds for points racing along with the touring Legends of the Pacific and the California Mini Cups.
Former Pitman High receiver David Gianesin had only a few days to decide whether to drop everything, including collegiate athletics and forgo this semester of academics in order to pursue his dream of playing football at the professional level.
It hasn't been by any standards an even decent start for the Turlock Express, or not one that head coach Art Pulido expected, but with nine games left in the season and the Express just two games from third place in their division, there is no question they are still in the hunt for the playoffs-meaning their year is far from over.
