Since graduating from Turlock High in 2001, Bronil Koochoie has travelled the globe with soccer as his vehicle. After experiencing exotic locals like Sweden, Iran, and Thailand as a professional outdoor player, Koochoie returned home to Turlock last year to try his hand at the indoor version of his beloved game as part of the Turlock Express in the Professional Arena Soccer League.

Turlock's professional indoor soccer team, the Express, finished its second year in the Professional Arena Soccer League with a 9-7 record that included a division final appearance in the postseason after placing second in the Western Division, now Pacific Division.

Because of this, sport is usually the main outlet for these children of Turlock. Still, the feeling of small town confinement persists for many of these athletes who see college athletics as their only way into a bigger world.
Lewis Gonzalez has caught his first big break. After compiling an undefeated MMA record of 8-0 in less than two years, the 'Lethal' Turlock native has moved from regional fighter to the big leagues with the recent signing of a six-fight contract with the upstart World Series of Fighting.
No tears were shed Friday night when Lewis Gonzalez (8-0) and Emmanuel Sanchez (4-1) met in the cage at the Jackson Sports Arena in Sacramento, but there was plenty of blood and sweat to go around as the two fighters went the distance in one of the more exciting match-ups at West Coast Fighting Championship V.
