A vegetation fire that scorched about a quarter acre of land Monday afternoon was deemed suspicious by the Turlock City Fire Department.
The fire ignited near a wood pile in the 400 block of E. Minnesota Avenue around 4:45 p.m. Monday.
The fire charred the ground, a pine tree, and was encroaching on a nearby structure before it was extinguished. A fence was also damaged by the blaze.
Two engines and a battalion chief responded to the fire.
Anyone with information about the fire is asked to contact the fire department at 668-5580.
