A validated gang member, who is also a suspect in a stabbing, was arrested Tuesday after a foot pursuit that ended with him being shot with a Taser by Merced County Sheriff’s deputies.
Daniel Saldana, 23, was charged with resisting arrest, violation of parole, and possession of methamphetamine, said sheriff spokesman Deputy Tom MacKenzie.
The sheriff’s department developed information that Saldana was staying at his girlfriend’s residence in the 9000 block of Broadway in Planada.
When deputies arrived, Saldana took off out the back and two deputies ran after him. The chase continued for two blocks before Saldana was Tasered and taken into custody by the two deputies, MacKenzie said.
Saldana is a suspect in a stabbing that occurred Saturday night in Planada. The victim, a man in his 40s, had stab wounds to his chest and arms. He also is a suspect in a vehicle pursuit and stolen vehicle investigation with the California Highway Patrol that happened Sunday night and was wanted by State Parole.
When he was taken into custody, deputies found a meth smoking pipe containing meth clenched between his buttocks inside his pants, MacKenzie said. He remains in jail without bail.
