The Modesto Police Department is investigating the attempted kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl as she walked home from school Thursday afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. in the 2700 block of Mill Oak Drive. As the victim was walking home from school, she saw a Hispanic man, driving a tan four-door medium-size passenger vehicle, pull over in front of her. She crossed over to the other side of the street and noticed he made a U-turn in front of her and stopped in the middle of the street. The suspect got out of the vehicle and walked up to her and grabbed her right arm. The girl was able to pull away and run a few feet, but was again grabbed by the suspect on her shoulders. The suspect pulled her back and began to pull her towards his car, but she was able to fend him off, break from his grasp, and run home, the police department reported.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male between the ages of 30 years to 40 years old, with shaved hair on the side of his head, and brown 2-inch “afro” style hair on top. He is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and has a medium build.
