A crash believed to have been the result of two racing drivers caused a power outage early Saturday morning, but no major injuries the Turlock Police Department reported.
According to the police report, the two vehicles were traveling down Golden State Boulevard around 1:40 a.m. Saturday when a tire blew on one of the vehicles.
The driver lost control, crashing into the second vehicle. Two streetlights near the Golden State and Walnut Road intersection were also hit and a power line was taken out, causing the outage.
The drivers said they were going about 50 mph when the crash happened, but the skid mark analysis suggested they were traveling at speeds of more than 100 mph, the police department reported.
The case is being forwarded to the district attorney’s office.
