Pitman High returns this season having graduated a majority of last year’s starters, particularly on the defense, but replacing players with young talent has never been a problem for the Pride and this season is no exception. Pooling from an athletic junior class that went 10-0 last year at the JV level, Head Coach Brandon Harris has created a nice balance of raw talent and experience as the Pride strive for another winning season.

Pitman’s strength lies in the backfield where returners Brent Nelle, Cody Brackett, and Andres Mendez are joined by juniors Logan Wolfley and Jimmy Zheng. The Pride’s depth extends to the quarterback position as well where senior Eric Reza and junior Wyatt Clapper have been battling for the starting position. While Reza’s mobility can be an asset in game time situations Clapper’s height and accurate passing are good compliments to the Pride’s rushing attack.

Both the offensive and defensive lines have size on their side but they have also exhibited exceptional team speed, especially the defense. With an experienced secondary to face down Turlock, Merced, and Buhach Colony High, the young defensive front is expected to perform at a high level despite its lack of Varsity experience.

There’s no questioning the Pride’s goals this season. After missing out on the CCC crown by one loss Pitman is ready not only knock Buhach off the throne but to journey deeper into the post-season as well. To do so Coach Harris needs consistent output from his backfield and dependable defense from his juniors; a task made easier by his team’s depth.
