Mamie C. Carvalho, 79, of Turlock, died Sunday in Turlock. She was born in 1932 in Stevinson. She was a teacher’s aide for Turlock Unified School District for 20 years and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Turlock and Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church of Turlock, S.P.R.S.I. Council 151 of Hilmar and Y.L.I. St. Patrick’s Institute #223 of Hilmar. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, spending time with family and watching golf and NASCAR racing.

She is survived by her sons, Albert D. Carvalho and his wife, Janine, of Turlock and Dennis Carvalho and his wife, Laurie, of Turlock; daughter, Christine Carvalho and her domestic partner, Jennifer Ortega, of Turlock; brothers, Joe L. Mendes of Hilmar, Tony R. Mendes of Hilmar and David Mendes of Hilmar; sister, Amilia Serpa of Turlock; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Carvalho, on Sept. 27, 2003.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 9 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel. Rosary/Mass combined will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 10 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 2602 S. Walnut Rd., Turlock. Burial will be at Turlock Memorial Park.
