Surinder Mohan Chopra

Mr. Surinder Chopra, 70, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock on Wednesday, June 8, 2011. He was born July 1940 in India.

He served 25 years in the India Army. He came to Los Angeles in 1994 and lived in Colorado, where he was a chef for an Indian restaurant for eight years before settling in Ballico in 2006. He attended both the Modesto and Livingston Hindu Temples. He enjoyed watching the Indian news.

He is survived by his five children, Tripta Chopra of Ballico, Rajni Chopra of Ballico, Shiv (Nesha) Chopra of India, and Mini Chopra and Mohan Lal, both of Ballico. He is also survived by sisters, Kamla Anand of India, Prem Rani of Turlock and Usha Rani of India; and brother, Rajinder Chopra of San Dimas, Calif.

A Hindu funeral will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 13 at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway, Turlock, with a cremation ceremony to follow.
