Fred J. Sigrist, 90, passed away June 11 at his residence in Turlock. He was born August 1920, in Switzerland to the late Alfred and Rosa Sigrist. He was raised in Imperial Valley, and lived in Modesto
before he settled in Turlock in 1944. He was a road equipment operator for Stanislaus County for 31 years. He belonged to the San Joaquin Valley Swiss Club, and the Church of the Resurrection. Fred enjoyed playing the accordion and the clarinet, and also loved to garden.
He is survived by his wife, Sofie Sigrist; children, Louise Martin of Ceres, Mary Jensen of Modesto and Carl Sigrist of Turlock; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and sister, Rosie Holloway of Washington.
Visitation will be start at 1 p.m., with recitation of the Rosary to follow at 7 p.m., on Thursday, June 16 at Allen Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, also at Allen Mortuary with interment to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
