Leona was born December 6, 1918, to parents Louis and Sarepta Shormann in Shelton, Nebraska.  She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend.  She joined her beloved husband Albert F McRoberts of 55 ½ years into heaven on Friday, July 20, 2012.

After high school Leona attended Teachers College and taught in a rural school Grades K-12 in Nebraska.

She spent her early years on a farm in Nebraska before moving to California in 1940 to be married.

She was a member of the Maywood Methodist Church in Maywood, California.  She belonged to the Francis Johnson Circle, PEO and the Methodist Women’s Society and taught English as a second language for the Laubach Society in Maywood.

She lived 65 years in Maywood and Bell before moving to Sacramento to live with son Gary in 2005.  She became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Roseville.

In 2010 she moved to Paramount Court Assisted Living/Generations Wing where she lived until her death.  She had daily visitors of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband  Albert F. (Bert) McRoberts, parents Louis and Sarepta Shormann, sisters Gladys Peel, Wilma Dority, and brothers Elmer Shormann, Bill Shormann, Ervin Shormann, Louis Shormann and Floyd Shormann.

She is survived by her three sons, Jim McRoberts (Carol) of Turlock, Gary McRoberts (Kathy, deceased) North Highlands, and Alan McRoberts (Debbie) of Temecula; grandchildren Daron McRoberts, Oakdale, Sean McRoberts (Anjeannette), Bakersfield, Michelle Foote (Jarum) of West Jordon, Utah, Renee Holdaway (Paul) of Temecula, Andrea Sharp (Steve) of Antelope; and great-grandchildren Albert F. McRoberts II, Frankie McRoberts of Oakdale, Jalen and Sydney Sharp of Antelope, Amber, Megan, Jenna and Andrew Foote of West Jordon, Utah, Christopher, Jeffrey and Shelby Holdaway of Temecula.

The McRoberts Family would like to thank the Paramount Court Assisted Living Staff for the kind and compassionate family care for the past two years.  We would also like to thank Hospice of Emanuel Hospital for their kind care for the past month.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. today and a celebration of her life will be held at 4 p.m. today at Turlock Funeral Home.  Interment will be July 28 at 1 p.m. at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, CA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled Veterans Group, charity or church of your choice.
