Marjorie Ely went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 1, 2012. She was born in Mc Cook, Nebraska to James and Anna Brant in 1922, as the youngest of five children.

In her younger years she enjoyed dancing. In 1939 she married Curtis Ely; together they shared 60 years of marriage until his passing in 1999. Marjorie attended Nazareth Lutheran Church in Turlock and was involved in the Women’s Auxiliary at Mitchell Community Church for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and sewing; she sewed the majority of her children’s clothes over the years.  She loved to spend time with family members and especially enjoyed the little ones.  Marjorie also enjoyed reading her Bible and doing Bible word search puzzles.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Joanne (Jim) Lutz of Denair, Janie (Ed) Dickey of Atwater and Dan (Margo) Ely of Hughson; siblings, John Brant of Nebraska and Ruth Bridgmon; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Orin Ely; and daughter, Judith Barnett Porter.

A memorial service will be held at Allen Mortuary on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Hospice of Emanuel, 825 Delbon Ave., Turlock, CA 95382.
