Lois Miller was welcomed into heaven following a heart attack on August 22, 2012. She was born to Sheldon and Paulyne Decker on November22, 1927 in Turlock.

 

Lois graduated from Turlock High in 1945 and UC Berkeley in 1949. Then she became a social case worker for Stanislaus County out of Modesto before becoming a primary teacher at Laurel School in Turlock. In June 1956 she married Mel Miller, a teacher and administrator and moved to Hayward where she taught first grade until the birth of her children. Lois was a friendly outgoing person who loved children and adults. She was a pianist, soloist, choir member, and Sunday school teacher serving churches in Hayward, Oceanside, and Camarillo for forty-eight years.

 

Survivors include husband Mel Miller, sister Paula Boulware, brother John Decker (Connie), and her children Mark Miller (Elizabeth), daughter Marla Pitzek (Stefan) and four grandchildren Sarah and Laura Miller, Kristofer and Jessica Pitzek, and an extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

A private family celebration of her life was held on September 8th at Rancho Community Church in Temecula. If you wish to make a charitable donation in her memory, the family suggests the American Bible Society 1865 Broadway, NY 10023. 866-895-4448
