Betty Walker

April 1930 - October 2012

Betty Walker

POSTED October 26, 2012 7:41 p.m.

At home, surrounded by her family, Betty Walker passed into the presence of her Master on October 23, at the age of 82.Betty grew up in Martinez and Turlock, and married Oliver “Bob” Walker in 1947, and raised their two sons on Faith Home Rd. For 37 years Betty worked at several local companies, primarily doing line-work at poultry processing plants.

For several years Betty served at Prairie Flower Church with little league teams, youth groups and choir. She was co-founder and pastor’s wife for thirty five years at Fellowship Bible Chapel on Canal Drive. No wonder so many people called her “Mom”!

Betty was selfless and her love for family and friends was without reserve.  She always gave more than she took. She laughed and cried with ease. She had a courageous commitment to Christ. Her cold-slaw and peach cobbler were renowned. They just don’t make them like her anymore.

She is survived by her sons Larry, a missionary with Pioneers in San Diego, and Gary, on staff at Crossroads Church in Turlock, brother Jerry Carter, sisters Linda Burnam, Nadine Gleaves and Donna Herr, daughter-in-laws Kathy and Barbara,  granddaughters Kim, Carolyn, Jennifer, Lori, Pamela and Angela and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents George and Sadie Carter and her brothers Michael and Waverly Carter.

Her life and legacy will be celebrated at Allen Mortuary Event Center, 239 N. Broadway, on November 3 at 1:00 PM. with burial following at Turlock Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 on November 2 at Allen Mortuary.

In leau of flowers please send donations to Fellowship Bible Chapel (sound system project), 409 Allen Way, Turlock CA 95380. Please visit www.allenmortuary.com to share your memories.
