Evelyn was born in Turlock to Tony C. and Maria Silva and passed away at the age of 88 in Turlock on December 21, 2012. She worked for Woolworths and Turlock Chamber of Commerce, and the Ration Board during World War II. Evelyn married the love of her life, Raymond J. Lewis and together they had two children; she also worked with her husband in the nursery and poultry business. After Raymonds passing in 1967, she worked for Gemperle Farms until the age of 80. Evelyn was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and belonged to YLI. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and most of all being outside where she grew beautiful roses and camellias. Now she is at peace and dancing with the love of her life again in heaven.
She is survived by her children Marji (Greg) Bodine of La Grange, CA and Bob Lewis of Turlock; grandson Joe Lewis and sister Mary Barcellos. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Raymond J. Lewis in 1967; siblings Joe H. Silva and Olive Silva.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Viewing will be held at Allen Mortuary on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 3:00-7:00p.m. with rosary to follow at 7:00p.m. also at Allen Mortuary.
