Baker, Mary E., 79, of Turlock died December 30. After a short illness, Mary Baker passed away at home on December 30th surrounded by her family. She is survived by her children John (Cyndi) Sims of Turlock, CA; Thomas (Debby) Sims of Sharps Chapel, TN; Marilyn (Bill) Gist of Cedaredge, CO; Sheryl (Daryl) Galloway of Turlock, CA, sister Alice (Frank) Tolson of Lakeland, Florida, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Mary was a resident of Turlock and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Turlock since 1969.  She owned and operated three convalescent homes in the area:  Elness and Bel Air Lodge in Turlock and Ha-Le Aloha in Ceres.  Mary was active in many community groups including Epsilon Sigma Alpha civic sorority (34 years), Arrowhead Club, and Sierra Vista Child and Family Services (as the “Birthday Lady”).  She loved her family, her church, and traveling the world.
