Mrs. Nirmala Chandrakant Patel, age 69 passed away peacefully on March 7, 2013 after her battle with cancer.
She was born on November 27, 1943, raised in India and later moved with her family to the U.K. and then New York, before settling for the second half of her life in her beloved town of Turlock, California.
Nirmala was a devoted wife to her late husband, Dr. Chandrakant Patel, a loving mother/mother-in-law, caring grandmother, and loyal friend. She is survived by her children Bhavesh Patel and Rupal Shenoy; their spouses Sampada Patel and Aneil Shenoy; her grandchildren Sachin and Sonal Patel; and a large extended family.
Nirmala devoted herself to the community and was awarded Woman of the Year for her services to various organizations including the Indian Cultural Society. She had a big heart, and would volunteer her time at the homeless shelter, library, and hosted a number of Japanese exchange students. Nirmala found great enjoyment in traveling, taking trips and cruises worldwide with family and friends.  She also enjoyed Yoga, playing bingo, watching her Yankees play baseball, and making her annual trip to Disneyland.
She had a zest for life and will be missed by all those she touched by her presence. Nirmala made an everlasting impact in our hearts and souls.
Memorial services for Nirmala Patel will be held on Wednesday March 13, 2013 at 10 AM at Lakewood Memorial Park at 900 Santa Fe Ave. in Hughson, CA. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in honor of Nirmala’s life to Pathways Hospice Foundation (pathwayshealth.org).
