Zona M. Stafford, a long-time resident of Denair and Turlock, passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday. Born in 1919 in Turlock to the late Benjamin and Jessie Rude, Zona married Robert K. Stafford in 1937. She belonged to the Church of Christ in Turlock and made the Lord the first on her list. She loved her family and cared for her friends. Her interests included crocheting, playing cards, camping and most of all she enjoyed fishing.
She is survived by her daughters, GayNell “Gail” Hedges of Modesto, Becky (John) Benere of Turlock and Roberta (Russ) Green of Modesto; seven grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. Zona was preceded in death by her husband, Robert K. Stafford; grandchild, Michael Hedges; three sisters; and six brothers.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 16 at the Church of Christ in Turlock.
