On Jan. 20, 1965 an angel came to us. On April 16, 2011 heaven got an angel.

Tony came to the U.S. in 1971 at the age of six. He was a student of Turlock schools and Turlock Community Continuum College for over 20 years. He spent the last 10 years at home.

He is survived by his mother, Dalila F Duarte of Turlock; brother, Joe Duarte and his wife, Jeanne, of Lake Elizabeth; sisters, Lucy Machado and her husband, Joao, of Turlock and Emily Chaves and her husband, David, of Oakdale; nephews, Joe and James Duarte, Doulgas Alves and Peter Machado; nieces, Susie Machado-Flores and Patricia Duarte; great nieces, Marissa Pineda-Machado and Monet Coffman; great nephew, Michael Coffman; godparents, Antonio and Maria Irene Ceolho of Artesia; and uncle and aunts,  Antonio and Emily Costa and Tersesa Dinis, all of Canada; numerous cousins; and caregivers, Germana Avila, Ira Espinola, Maria Mancillia and Vicky Paz.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose C. Duarte; and grandparents, Antonio and Palmira Dinis, and Joaquin and Josephine Correira-Duarte; and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 23 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias chapel. Rosary/Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 25 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 2602 S. Walnut Rd., Turlock. Burial will be at Turlock Memorial Park.
