Michael Ray Voorhees, self-proclaimed "semi-pro" fisherman, cast his last line toward Heaven on May 20 after a one and a half year battle with cancer.
Born November 24, 1948, in Oakdale to parents Raymond and Thelma Voorhees, Mike joined the Army National Guard in 1967. He ended his 23 years of military service in the Army at the rank of Sergeant First Class E-7. He then went to work at Central Sanitary Supply where he retired due to his illness after 20 years.
Michael loved his family, fishing and RV'ing. He is survived by "the best catch of his life", his wife Linda Voorhees; their five children, Anne, Lisa, Lannette, Glenn, and, Russell; his eleven grandchildren, Taylor, Emilee, Trevor, Russell, Glenn, Teresa, Aidan, Abbie, Daniel, Paquito and Brookelyn; his two sisters Diane and Sharon; his two brothers Raymond Jr. and Randy. He was a true friend to everyone he met. Fish on Michael!
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Michael's name to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK. 73123-1718
Services are pending through Allen Mortuary.
