Marilyn Garrett, 76 of Hilmar, died Sunday in Turlock. She was born in San Francisco in 1935 and lived in Hilmar most of her life, except for a few years in Chester. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, painting, camping and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Brea Lutheran Church of Hilmar.
Marilyn is survived by her sons, Raleigh (Butch) Garrett and his wife Mary of Chester; Paul (Olie) Garrett and his wife Michelle of Chester; Gunnar Elzie Garrett and his wife Candi of Chester; daughters Lynn Oliver and her husband Mark of Hilmar; and Della Lundell and her husband Randy of Hilmar; sister Maryann Gonzales of Hilmar and Margit Young of Chesterfield, Missouri; 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raleigh "Skip" Garrett in 1988.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 26 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel. Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 27 at Hilmar Cemetery, at Tegner and American avenues in Hilmar.
