Footers: Serving up award-winning lunches

POSTED January 2, 2013 12:18 p.m.

Turlock’s own Main Street Footers has perfected the quintessential American food — the hotdog. The eatery's tasty dogs and other edible fare have earned it the 2012 Readers’ Choice winner for favorite lunch.

Dennis Rodgers opened the Turlock landmark 28 years ago, offering hotdogs out of a window facing Main Street. The window is still there, but the eatery has changed owners and expanded its menu to include a wide variety of sandwiches, salads and even giant baked potatoes.

Glen Newsum and Lisa Wilson bought the restaurant 15 years ago and have continued the Turlock tradition.

Footers is located at 425 E. Main St., in Turlock. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Footers also delivers, call 667-8383 for more information.
